Shagbark Hickory Syrup (16 fl oz)

Story + Craft

At the heart of this product is the Shagbark Hickory, one of few trees to naturally shed its bark. We gather the fallen bark, slow-roast it to bring out aromas of vanilla, toffee, malt and toasted wood, brew the roasted bark into a tea, and combine the tea with natural cane sugar to transform it into an amber syrup.

Shagbark Hickory trees are native to North America and have deep roots in Native food and medicine. The tradition of using hickory bark to make syrup has been enjoyed for centuries.

Ingredients + Sourcing

Ingredients: Organic cane sugar, water, Shagbark Hickory bark

All bark is foraged by hand on our 22-acre family farm in Long Valley, NJ. We gather only what naturally falls and never pull from or harm the trees, which provide vital habitat to wildlife.

Bottle + Packaging

Size: 16 fl oz (473 ml). The full-size pour of the staple that has earned its place on every table and bar.

Each bottle is dipped in gold wax, batch numbered, and finished by hand on our farm. A hangtag shares the story of the Shagbark Hickory tree and our unique craft process.

This distinctive bottle and versatile flavor make it a thoughtful gift for hosts, home cooks, cocktail enthusiasts, and anyone with a curious palate.

Storage + Natural Sediment

Shelf-stable. Refrigerate after opening.

Natural sediment may appear or become suspended in the bottle over time. This is a normal characteristic of our minimally processed syrup and does not affect its quality. Simply shake the bottle gently to redistribute it.
