Crafted from wild-foraged Shagbark Hickory bark and premium organic cane sugar. The subtle essence of hickory balanced by warm notes of wildflower honey, toffee and vanilla.
Drizzle it over pancakes, waffles, yogurt, or ice cream; stir it into coffee or tea; pair it with cheese; or use it to add depth to cocktails, glazes, roasted vegetables, and savory dishes.
At the heart of this product is the Shagbark Hickory, one of few trees to naturally shed its bark. We gather the fallen bark, slow-roast it to bring out aromas of vanilla, toffee, malt and toasted wood, brew the roasted bark into a tea, and combine the tea with natural cane sugar to finish it into an amber syrup.
Shagbark Hickory trees are native to North America and have deep roots in Native food and medicine. The tradition of using hickory bark to make syrup has been enjoyed for centuries.

All bark is foraged by hand on our 22-acre family farm in Long Valley, NJ. We gather only what naturally falls and never pull from or harm the trees, which provide vital habitat to wildlife.
